"Singing to the beat of my own drum! "

A friend recently said that they couldn't think of any way that I conformed, and they could have a point! I've always been an adventurer, travelling extensively worldwide, living in several different areas of the UK and evolving from one type of job to another, though always somehow returning to my home town of Edinburgh. I also love to explore ideas and how we humans organise our varied internal realities and interact with each other. I'm far more likely to give someone the benefit of the doubt than not and am easily drawn into fondness of people in all their amazing variety. My working evolution has led to self-employment, mainly hosting chocolate tastings, which I love for the fact that I not only get to enable people to enjoy themselves but also to plant seeds of ideas about the positive social and environmental impacts going on in the chocolate making of the company I do this work on behalf of. I live alone in the beautiful - to me - eyrie of my own tiny flat, where my art school background is strongly evident. I share an artist's studio space with my fantastic mum, who's probably the most important person in my life along with a small handful of closest friends and my godson. I have become an accomplished drummer in recent years, on kit bass or djembe in large drumming crews, and make chances where I can to sing solo a capella and play my fiddle. My style is non-conformist and makes use of an eclectic wardrobe of vintage clothing often in bright colours. Some health challenges have meant that while walks on beaches are the stuff of life for me, hiking up hills is a much rarer activity. The city and the country hold pretty much equal allure for me. I am committed to living a full life following my values, skills and passions wherever I can. I love to be in big groups; sit one to one with a dear friend talking all around the houses and also to spend plenty of time alone digesting life, plotting my next points of focus and - not quite often enough - creatively pottering. I'm convinced that there is no light without shade in life, and while I am regularly snorting with laughter with the silliest group at the party or pub, I am also committed to voicing and hearing the sadder and harsher aspects of life. I have practiced Nonviolent Communication for many years, as best I can, and this serves me well to achieve that light and shade balance and also to strive to be present to myself and to others with equal care. ..

Drum'n'Bass, Folk, Gaelic, Hip Hop, Pop, World Music, 70s music, Where's the word Funk when you need it? :) Also, I'd happily find music I love in any decade. I can find that I experience sensory overload, so though I absolutely love to listen to music, I often prefer silence or talk radio.

Yoga, Also, sometimes short distance hiking and short to medium distance walking though I have dreams that I may yet realise of completing a long distance, multi stage walk...

A Chinese banquet, Fish and Chips, Handmade Pizza, Lobster Thermidor, Mediterranean vegetables and Ricotta wrapped in Filo, Smoked Salmon, Spaghetti alle Vongole, Steak and chips, Tomato + Mozarella salad

Ideal Holiday:

Driving across the US, Route 66 definitely on my dream list!!
