I am a music teacher by profession.

A levels in Music and Sciences. Music Degree. Self-educated in various other ways. Life is an ongoing education!

No specific faith but very interested in the inner person and how we fit into the world, and thinking about life.

Though I don't speak any other language fluently I have learned a fair amount of French, German, Welsh and some Chinese. A lot of this probably forgotten though.

Musical Instruments played:

I play piano mostly but various other things too.

Music Enjoyed:

Mahler. Bach. Beethoven. Bill Evans. Miles Davis, Monteverdi. Wagner. Schubert. Chick Corea and hundreds more. World Music, Beatles. Queen, etc. Music is a major part of my life and my job also.

Sports and exercise:

I am not sporty but enjoy tennis and table tennis. I sometimes enjoy watching sports on TV but don't seriously follow any.

Interests and activities:

Camping, Music, Cooking, Countryside, Sudoku,Eating Out, Spending time with my son and daughter, Hiking, History, Mountains, Reading, Singing, Theatre, Travel, Walking, I enjoy camping and walking in the mountains. Photography is a major interest. I have spent a lot of time in recent years researching my family history. I enjoy theatre (and in the past was actively involved directing plays).

Animals and Pets:

I have a cat and in general like animals.

Economist, Guardian, New Scientist, Private Eye, Time Out and others.

Books:

Bernard Cornwell, Bill Bryson, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, George Orwell, Salman Rushdie, Ted Hughes, I love classics such as War and Peace, Madam Bovary, Count of Monte Cristo etc. I've recently also enjoyed William Boyd and CJ Samson.

Favourite Films:

Casablanca, Cinema Paradiso, Citizen Kane, any films by great directors such as Renoir an Ray, Jean de Florette, Maltese Falcon, Manhattan, Reservoir Dogs, The Seven Samurai. I love good films from all over the world but generally not American blockbusters. I've recently been enjoying Nordic Noir such as the Bridge.

Enjoyable evening out:

Art Gallery, Cinema, Restaurant, Pub, Musical, Live Music, Theatre, I'm up for new suggestions too. I don't like noisy boozy clubs/bars though and I'm no good at dancing!

Favourite Dishes:

Indian and Chinese food; Fish and Chips, Handmade Pizza, Mediterranean food, any seafood, Smoked Salmon, Steak and chips, Good salads, a Sunday roast...... I very much enjoy food of most kinds!

Ideal Holiday:

Walking in the mountains. Driving around and exploring other countries. I like to spend time in wild places and enjoy visiting foreign cities, funds permitting of course.

No thoughts on another life.

Affectionate, Adventurous, Aware, Caring, Cheerful, Considerate, Creative, Different, Eccentric, Friendly, Humorous, Imaginative, Independent, Intellectual, Loving, Optimistic, Positive, Reliable, Strong, Strong willed, Thoughtful, Tolerant, I don't really know. I guess different friends think of me differently, depending on their character and outlook.
