I am very outgoing and independent and quirky. I am quite comfortable in my own company but much happier with a significant other. I like walks in the countryside, preferably ending up in a cosy pub for lunch. I am not averse to good restaurants either. I also love music, mostly classical, but it does not have to be an elitist exploit.
At home I relax doing the usual things: cooking (or being cooked for!) with wine and music; lounging over coffee, listening to Radio 4, watching various TV talk shows. Learning about people’s views and opinions is always an amusing experience! I also like good films, mostly dramas be it on TV or in the cinema. I do a bit of writing and more reading and enjoy companiable silence working around someone who has their own creative stuff to do.
I am a realist (not much of an optimist), resilient and not afraid of change or as challenge. I have been widowed for a long time. When I retired from my primary profession (university lecturer) I enrolled in a psychotherapy course and am now a psychotherapist with an interesting private practice. People describe me as a brave heart, and in a way I am, but I have not forgotten how to be tender either.
My ideal man is quietly intelligent with an international outlook, laid back, loving, and a gentle sense of humour. I don't need to be joined at the hip so it could be someone who likes pursuing his own interests while I get on with mine. Someone who can be spontaneous, because we know life is short. I have no particular physical type, because sparks are funny things.
