Looking for: someone to share walks/hikes/holidays with. Someone open to different cultures, and open to culture, someone who likes good conversation, someone kind. Interests? Well interested in lots of things, but also in getting to know what you are interested in. The chance to share and find out about something new would be a big part of meeting someone. I’ve spent large amounts of time living abroad, in Austria, China, Switzerland and am used to living independently. Love travelling, love walking, love spending time with good friends, love learning languages. Enjoy my job and get a lot out of it, but bit of a workaholic and could do with someone to distract me. I guess I would be happiest with someone who didn’t take themselves too seriously, but has serious interests. Someone who lives life lightly, is warm, intelligent, and fun to be with, someone with a social conscience. ..

Occupation:

For last 15 years a language teacher - Chinese and German. Before that translator, researcher. Teaching is lots of work, but every day is different.

Education:

Grammar school kid. Then linguistics degree. Couple of masters degrees - Chinese politics and Machine Translation. Plus stints at universities abroad. Like studying!

Heritage:

White British, but that's as far as it goes. Always been interested in other cultures and prefer to think of myself as European.

Religion:

Tolerant of all, but agnostic myself.

Politics:

Definitely left-leaning and not about to change. I like a lot of green ideas too. Really think we need a little more equality in the UK. Currently reading Hans Rosling.

A little height challenged - five foot 2, but best things, as you know... Blue eyes, brown/red/blonde hair. Average build.

Ice Skating, Pilates, Swimming, Exercising in the fresh air is important to me. In fact out in the countryside is where I am happiest. Swim regularly too. Keeping fit and healthy is important to me, but not obsessive. Took up ice skating a few years ago- scary stuff.
