    Born London, lived many places as young child until from 11 to 18 in NE Essex. Most of rest of my student and working life in London. Retired first to Devon (had a sailing boat on River Dart); now in small town in west Dorset.  

    Religion:
    C of E by upbringing, now a bit 'lapsed' though still go to church on occasions 

    Politics:
    Once an active Lib Dem. Now just watch in horror on the sidelines. 

    Appearance:
    Tallish, bald, whats left of hair white, ugly teeth, a bit paunchy round the middle, but a happy disposition.  

    Languages Spoken:
    French, French, lived after WW2 Austria and Italy as child when couls speak basic German & italina - now mainly forgotten

    none!

    Choral, Classical, Folk, Opera 


    Sports and exercise:
    Athletics, Rugby, Sailing, Skiing, T'ai Chi, Tennis, none actively now. Rugby, sailing and skiing the only ones I ever did seriously

    Concerts, Countryside, Eating Out, Friends, Gardening, History, Politics, Reading, Theatre, Travel, Walking, Writing

    none, but not averse to them

    Books:
    Bill Bryson, Charles Dickens, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, George Orwell, Ian Fleming, John Le Carré, Julian Barnes, Martin Amis,, Nick Hornby, Salman Rushdie, Sebastian Faulks, Shakespeare while I have read and enjoyed novels by the above (Shakespeare of course didn't write novels), and belong to a book club, my main reading is non-fiction especially history, biography, medical or science 


    Favourite Films:
    Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Gone with the Wind, Kind Hearts and Coronets, The Seven Samurai, I've only ticked the one's I remember seeing. I go perhaps 2 or 3 times a year to well reviewed modern films or when dragged by friends 


    Enjoyable evening out:
    Restaurant, Pub, Theatre, opera, concert 


    Favourite Dishes:
    Lemongrass and ginger marinated chicken, Lobster Thermidor, Pate de Foie Gras, Smoked Salmon, Veal Escalope, any good dish tastily cooked, especially fresh fish  


    Ideal Holiday:
    A cruise? perhaps round Australia &/or New Zealand where I have cousins and friends and my parents lived for a while 


    In another life:
    I have no yen to be any of the above - just perhaps a better, kinder, more successful version of the on the whole lovely life I have been lucky enough to live. 


    Personality:
    Affectionate, Adventurous, Aware, Caring, Confident, Considerate, Disorganised, Friendly, Humorous, Imaginative, Independent, Loving, Modest, Practical, Reserved, Romantic, Sentimental, Thoughtful, Tolerant, golly - am I all these things?! - perhaps these are what I would like to think I am or aspire to. My family say I have a celtic short fuse (my irish and scottish blood), but this never lasts.
